10th Series Land/Water Quad Test Description

The 10th Series brings us back to the 8th Series water blind testing site. The line has moved to the East of the pond and is over-looking a technical pond and field full of giant hay bales. This is a quadruple marking test in a land water combination. The current temperature is 72'F with a wind direction out of the North to Northwest at times and a wind speed of 5 to 8 mph. The weather forecast is calling for "blue" skies with a chance of happiness. The 10th Series test begins with a rooster pheasant flyer shot to the L up the hill landing among a group of hay bales, the path to this bird is dry (RF). The next bird to be thrown is a dead hen pheasant situated shorter and to the R of the rooster flyer (RF). This bird is thrown to the L and also lands among some hay bales. The gun station will retire and the line to this mark is thru the pond (RR). The third bird to be thrown is situated shorter and to the L of the first two marks it is nestled in heavy vegetation. This bird is a dead hen pheasant thrown to the L. The hen lands in very heavy cover and the gun station retires in an Avery fast grass covered camouflage holding blind (SR). The final bird to be shot is on the far L of the field perch high on the hill top. This hen mallard is shot to the R and pinch to the SR. The hen mallard is landing in medium cover on the downward slope of the hill and we will refer to this bird as the GO. Enjoy the show as we try to determine a National Champion today!

Update on #33

Last night the removed a foxtail from Slider's nasal passage.

Lauren writes:

"They yanked it out and I don't know if you can tell in the picture but it has three seeds on the end and three tails. It was 4 1/2 inches into his nasal passages. Nearly to his eye. If I had run today the vet said they would have never been able to get it out without going to a specialist. They said his adrenaline would have opened his passages further and it would have progressed to the point they couldn't reach it."

Done For The Day

We are finished for the day. Dog #81 was the last dog to run.

End of the day summary:

21 dogs have run series 9

7 Handles

3 Pick Up

8 dogs left to run the series

We are waiting to hear if dog #33 is cleared to run from the vet. They have taken him into the vet to anesthetize him and check his nasal passages to see if there is anything there. If #33 is cleared he will be the first dog to run in the am. If not the dog will not continue the trial and dog #83 will start us off in the am.

Test Dog will be at 6:30 am and the competing dogs will follow.

GOOD LUCK!
